Welcome to Haybridge Teaching School Hub.

As the DfE designated Teaching School Hub for Sandwell and Dudley, our vision is to build an educational network of expertise with the goal of improving education for all.

Haybridge Teaching School Hub aims to be the focal point of an outstanding educational community based in the West Midlands. We would like to consider ourselves the single point of contact for every school across Sandwell and Dudley to find the support they need. In order to achieve the excellence we strive for, our Hub works closely with the Department for Education to deliver the ‘Golden Thread’ of professional development to every school in the region.

The Department for Education’s ‘Golden Thread’ of Professional Development is rooted in the highest quality evidence, providing support from Initial Teacher Training through to school leadership. Each stage – Initial Teacher Training, early career support, specialisation and leadership – is underpinned by frameworks that build on and complement one another. These frameworks, each a strand of the ‘Golden Thread’, have been independently reviewed by the Education Endowment Foundation to ensure they draw on the best available evidence.

Haybridge Teaching School Hub’s aims are to:

  • Signpost teachers and staff to quality-assured, evidence-informed best practice

  • Help staff develop at every stage of their careers

  • Support and connect schools in a sustainable self-improving network

  • Give all schools access to high quality support when and where they need it

  • Ensure all children in our region can achieve success

Haybridge Teaching School Hub’s strategy is to simplify access to all aspects of the ‘Golden Thread’ by working in partnership to support Initial Teacher Training (ITT), deliver the Early Career Framework (ECF), act as an Appropriate Body (AB) under the new statutory changes, offer the reformed suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) as well as develop and signpost research-informed Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to school leaders and teachers.

Early Career Framework (ECF)

Teachers deserve high-quality support throughout their careers, particularly in those first years after Initial Teacher Training when the learning curve is steepest.

Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

The Haybridge Teaching School Hub understands that great teachers make great schools; we believe that school-based Initial Teacher Training programmes bring the best new teachers into the profession. Immersing trainees in a school environment enables them to think critically and make evidence-supported decisions in the early stages of their career.
