Haybridge Teaching School Hub’s Appropriate Body Services

Haybridge Teaching School Hub is an accredited Appropriate Body supporting schools by quality assuring the induction and assessment of Early Career Teachers.

With the goal of enhancing teacher development and improving the education of all children across Sandwell and Dudley, Haybridge Teaching School Hub will be supporting the registration, monitoring and assessment of schools’ Early Career Teachers. Our vision is to build an educational network of expertise by ensuring that Early Career Teachers have the range of skills, knowledge and experience that will enable them to deliver the highest quality learning activities.

Schools should ensure that they are familiar with the following DfE document:

Induction for early career teachers (England): Statutory guidance for appropriate Bodies, Headteachers, school staff and governing bodies (March 2021)

The 3 Appropriate Body Routes:

There are three different Appropriate Body routes a school can opt to follow. A school’s pathway must go hand-in-hand with their chosen ECF induction type:

  1. Full Induction Programme - The ECF is delivered by a ‘Lead Provider’ (Ambition Institute) and a ‘Delivery Partner’ (Haybridge Teaching School Hub). As the ECF is quality-assured by Ambition Institute and the DfE, schools following this route require no Appropriate Body fidelity checks.

  2. Core Induction Programme - The ECF is delivered by the school using quality-assured material from the DfE. Schools following this route must undergo a fidelity check to ensure their ECTs are receiving statutory entitlements and the school are following a programme in line with ECF guidance.

  3. School-based Induction Programme - The ECF is designed and delivered by the school. Enhanced fidelity checks must be carried out on the school by a representative from the Appropriate Body in order to ensure the ECF has been designed and delivered effectively to ECTs.

Fidelity Checks:

Where schools choose to follow the Core Induction Programme (CIP), or a School-Based Induction Programme (SBIP), it is the role of the Appropriate Body to conduct fidelity checks in the school to ensure that Early Career Teachers are receiving a programme of support and training based on the Early Career Framework. This is not required for schools who follow the Full Induction Programme (FIP) with a Lead Provider and Teaching School Hub.

Appropriate Body Registration Form:

Click below to fill out the Hub’s form to register your school with Haybridge Teaching School Hub for our Appropriate Body services.

The AB Registration Process:

Once you have registered your school with us via the above form, you will receive an email from the Teaching School Hub with instructions on how to set up an account with us on ECT Manager.
ECT Manager is our Appropriate Body system which generates the termly progress reviews and formal assessments for Induction Coordinators and Mentors to complete for their Early Career Teachers.
As soon as your account is authorised, you will be able to begin registering your ECTs on this platform, allowing us to claim them on the TRA System.

ECT Manager Support:

Below are guidance documents for Headteachers and Induction Coordinators new to Haybridge Teaching School Hub’s Appropriate Body on how to get set up on the ECT Manager platform.

Who can use Haybridge Teaching School Hub as an Appropriate Body?

As well as overseeing the assessment of Early Career Teachers in Sandwell and Dudley, our Hub is able to formally assess ECTs in schools across the West Midlands.

No Teaching School Hub can oversee the induction of any ECTs that completed their ITT Training in the Hub’s linked SCITT (Haybridge Alliance SCITT). Furthermore, Hubs cannot act as the Appropriate Body for any ECTs that are currently employed in the school attached to the Hub (Haybridge High School).
This DfE guidance is to prevent Appropriate Bodies from a conflict of interest.
