Saint Augustine’s Behaviour Hub

Saint Augustine’s base its support to other schools on a moral purpose of every child, irrespective of their backgrounds, are entitled to a fulfilling education to prepare them for adulthood.

As a Teaching School, we have supported many schools across the Midlands, in all phases, in areas of leadership, curriculum, pastoral and raising achievement. We never judge but rather support in partnership to address our core aim.

Saint Augustine’s is one of the most successful schools in the country with a Progress 8 average of +1.06 over the last 3 validated years and this continued last year. Also, ‘disadvantaged’ students achieved an average ‘well above’ in the same period (+0.60). We believe this is achieved by clear expectations in behaviour and attitudes.

In April 2021, Saint Augustine's was awarded the accolade of becoming a Behaviour Hub by the DfE, one of only 22 schools nationally after a rigorous selection process The programme is based on the principles and ideas outlined in Tom Bennett’s 2017 review of behaviour in schools: Creating a culture: how school leaders can optimise behaviour.

With a combination of our academic success, TSA School to School Support experiences and the Behaviour Hub developments, it is our belief that we can offer the following:

  • A behaviour audit of existing practice and make recommendations to improve systems.

  • NLE led review cycle of Leadership and Management; Quality of Education; ‘most disadvantaged’; Post 16 and Preparation for Adulthood; Sixth Form; and other requested curriculum or pastoral dimensions.

  • Visits to the school/ MATs and follow up surgeries.

  • Participation in Open Days at Saint Augustine’s and its MAT schools.

  • Coaching of leaders to implement change effectively.

  • Mentoring new staff in roles to allow depth to the school’s professional development.

  • Subject focus Behaviour for Success in the Core and other areas of the curriculum.

  • Ofsted preparation in all aspects of the EIF and assembling the post inspection action plan.
